Are you missing the passion of Paris, the bright lights of London, or the aesthetic of Singapore? Whilst we may not currently be able to travel to these cities, that’s not to say that we can’t evoke a little bit of their magic at home. World-renowned interior designer, Anouska Hempel, has turned her expert eye from styling and sourcing exquisite pieces and fabulous furnishings for luxury hotels, and for the homes of royalty and gentry alike, to launching her own collection.

Furniture, furnishings, fittings, fans, lights, lamps and mirrors are just some of the treasures and bespoke pieces, made painstakingly by hand for the new Hempel House & Hotels collection. Alongside the very same furniture you’ll find in Hôtel Monsieur George in Paris, the range also includes iconic products from The Franklin Hotel in London’s Knightsbridge and the Duxton Reserve in Singapore (all three hotels of which were designed by Hempel). Very little is off limits, and so, from London to Paris to Singapore, it is now entirely possible that your home can become a replica of personal travel through design.

The reason behind this new collection becomes suddenly clear when you hear anecdotally from the designer about her first boutique hotel, the now-iconic Blakes London. The concierge staff would frequently field such quiet requests as “can we take the bedside lamps home?” – and quite often, it would seem that they would acquiesce, allowing their guests to tow a little extra luggage in exchange for a little extra added to their final bill. History even records a four-poster bed being dismantled to be shipped internationally to a foreign guest!

Whilst this is undoubtedly testament to Anouska Hempel’s eye for award-winning design, the Hempel House & Hotels collection means that guests can re-create the “Hempel experience” at home, without resorting to ransacking their hotel room.

From the Parisian chic of Monsieur George’s fabled jade green velvet perch stools with hand-painted ceramic handbag holders; to the urban cool of The Franklin’s stone reception table; and even to the Oriental exoticism of The Duxton Reserve’s fabulous giant yellow fans – the Hempel House & Hotels Collection is a simple way of adding a touch of style at home, with a travel-inspired twist. Interior design never looked so good….
