At the end of September, Team RMG set sail for The Monaco Yacht Show<\/a>, which was as impressive as ever. After the cancellation of the 2020 edition, a leaner but more efficient and connected show emerged in 2021. With over 100 superyachts on display, there was also a new focus on sustainability, yacht design and sailing yachts as well as representations from the wider industry.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Sustainability proved to be the underlying theme of the show. The privileged position of superyacht builders and owners to trial and perfect some of the latest technologies was much in evidence. As was a concerted effort for the industry to join forces in developing technology through The Water Revolution Foundation and its new Sustainable Yacht Design Taskforce, which unites designers and naval architects. There was also a first meeting of the Monaco Smart and Sustainable Marina group which saw 250 industry leaders get together to develop sustainable solutions.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

And as for the parties\u2026. well!\u00a0 Ocean Residences Development<\/a> held a flagship cocktail party to present the 289-metre residential yacht, M\/Y NJORD<\/a>, at The Monaco Yacht Club. Ocean Residences Development CEO Kristian Stensby invited around 100 guests to the terrace on the third floor of the club to view the plans for M\/Y NJORD, to be built by Meyer Werft.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Guests were also invited to admire the amazing ideas from world-class interior designers: Francesca Muzio of FM Architettura<\/a>, Jean-Michel Gathy of DENNISTON, Kelly Hoppen Interiors, 1508 London, LINLEY, PINTO, Sabrina Monte-Carlo, Jenan Interior Design, and StudioBecker.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

On display at the cocktail party was a replica of M\/Y NJORD, constructed to give prospective buyers a glimpse of what this astounding superyacht will look like once it has been built.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

The concept behind the construction of M\/Y NJORD is one that resonates very closely with the Show’s sustainability theme. As the most technically advanced \u201cgreen ship\u201d operating at the highest environmental standards, sustainability and the environment were key components of her design brief. As a result, she will be built to the highest environmental specification using cutting-edge propulsion and battery technology to significantly reduce emissions.\u00a0 The build \u2013 scheduled for completion in 2025 \u2013 will also include the use of sustainable materials.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\nFurthermore, M\/Y NJORD will be equipped with a\u00a0professional oceanographic research laboratory containing sophisticated monitoring equipment, which will constantly gather vital data from the environment for the benefit of the scientific community. Equipment will include 3D scanners, remote drones and an observatory with a self-levelling, gyroscopically-stabilised telescope, and a retractable sliding glass roof. Throughout M\/Y NJORD\u2019s annual circumnavigation of the globe, scientists\u00a0will be able to research the changing environment, record sea and air conditions, and map the ocean floor. All this information will be made available to further humankind\u2019s understanding of our planet\u2019s oceanic secrets.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
