The Highlights Of A Winter Holiday In Cortina....

This year, Grand Hotel Savoia Cortina will mark a century of history and holidays.  Having first opened its doors a hundred years ago to a most glamorous clientele, the hotel's appeal remains as timeless today as the day it opened.  To honour this milestone, Grand Hotel Savoia Cortina has re-opened its rooms, suites, spa, restaurants and après-ski bars for the long-awaited ski season.

Cortina has always been known for fashion, glamour and just a little touch of luxe, set in the spectacular surrounds of the iconic Dolomites.  Grand Hotel Savoia Cortina is therefore the perfect base for enjoying the winter sports offered in these cinematic landscapes.  Return from a day on the slopes to relax in a beautifully-appointed room, before enjoying the excellent gastronomy at Ristorante Savoy.  Even better is that there’s no need to leave your four-legged friends at home, as they are always very welcome.

Enjoy Exceptional Winter Sports....

Cortina is one of the best winter sports destinations on the Italian Dolomites.  With such pedigree, coupled with a long tradition in ski tourism, it's little wonder that the Winter Olympics are coming to Cortina in 2026.  The mountains offer a magical setting from which to enjoy nature trails, hiking, skiing, and snowboarding.  Over 120km of ski slopes offer the perfect mountain descents for all types of skiers, framed with breath-taking views of the Dolomites (even the most demanding and experienced sportspeople come to Cortina, for the guaranteed snow cover as well as the exclusive environment of the Natural Park).  For those who may be strapping on ski boots for the very first time, the Snowpark in Cortina, which stretches over  500 metres, is ideal for families and is suited for skiers of all ages and abilities.

Four-Legged Friends Are Welcome....

Pets are true family members, and the Grand Hotel Savoia Cortina is happy welcome pets, providing a number of services to guarantee an easy and carefree stay for you, and for them.  To ensure proper hygiene and cleanliness, each room hosting one or more pets is always provided with an extra cleaning service.

The Culinary Delights for Christmas and the New Year....

On Saturday 24th December, Father Christmas himself will be paying a visit to the Grand Hotel Savoia Cortina Library, to deliver gifts to younger guests, accompanied by tasty snacks and maybe even a few surprises.  Afterwards, guests are invited to enjoy a fabulous à la carte Christmas Lunch at the hotel's Ristorante Savoy, created especially by Executive Chef Luigi Sarsano.  This Christmas Day, Luigi and his brigade will be evoking magical memories of Christmas past, with a delicious à la carte festive lunch.

New Year’s Eve celebrations are already in the making with plans for an unmissable party, which will make for spectacular memories.  Beginning with a fabulous gala dinner at 9 pm, guests can truly enjoy a special celebration with entertainment, live music and vocal sets from singers Neri Per Caso.  The music will no doubt will keep everyone dancing until the small hours.

Cinematic Views of the Dolomites, Morning, Noon and Night....

To mark the advent of 2023, a delicious breakfast buffet will be served on New Year's Day in the 1224 Bar Lounge and on the 1224 Terrazza with its cinematic views of the Dolomites beyond.  The menu and the open-air Grill on the terrace will certainly satisfy every palate, and the offerings will continue throughout the day with a selection of snacks, pastries and other sweet and savoury delicacies, accompanied by a wide variety of teas, hots chocolates, fine wines, cocktails, smoothies and shakes, all at the 1224 Bar Lounge and its beautiful 1224 Terrazza.  Blankets, wraps and heaters are at the ready so you can stay to watch the sun go down on New Year's Day over the Tofane mountains.

Looking Further Ahead....

The winter season will kick off properly on Saturday 17th December, when Cortina hosts the FIS Snowboard World Cup, providing a unique opportunity to see an incredible parallel slalom challenge on the spectacular Tondi slope on Faloria Mountain.  As is now tradition, the athletes will compete in qualifying rounds in the afternoon before the final, which takes place at 7 pm, set against the incredible backdrop of the Dolomites tinged in pink and orange.

The epic WinteRAID, now in its 19th edition, will be coming from St. Moritz to Cortina, where the Grand Hotel Savoia will be a comfortable home for weary drivers for two nights.  An unparalleled event, this international rally sees cars tackle 25 Alpine and Dolomite passes in the middle of winter, all within three days.

Cortina will also play host to the Women’s Alpine World Ski Championships and the Snowboard Cross World Cup in January 2023.  February 4th – 5th marks the 46th edition of the Classic Cross-Country Race and on 23rd February, the Cortina Snow Run will see its 6th edition.

The Boat International 2023 Superyacht Design Festival, first held at this stylish winter resort in 2019, will return to Grand Hotel Savoia Cortina from 8th – 10th February 2023, taking place across multiple venues within the town centre to create an informative, diverse and entertaining event for the leading yacht-design industry.  Last but not least, for those looking for horsepower on snow rather than the seas, there is the adrenalin-charged Winter Polo: the Arena Polo on Snow (8-10 goal handicap) in mid-February, which sees international teams gather in the charming village of Cortina d’Ampezzo, providing the perfect setting for exciting evening matches with the most picturesque background for players and spectators alike.

The 10th edition of the epic WinteRace 2023....

No less than 50 historic cars built before 1976, a daunting collection of precious motors, will line up on the snow to follow the same path as the original race 10 years ago – same rules, same tests.  The cars in the challenge are cherry-picked for being iconic landmarks in the world of car collection and limited edition production, and many owners and crews from Argentina, Mexico, Germany, Austria, England and Switzerland are taking part in this year's race, covering two stages between Italy and Austria.  Overall, the circuit spans a total of 400 kilometre, crossing 5 passes (Falzarego, Valparola, Gardena, Campolongo, Giau) with no less than 66 precision tests, making it one of the most elegant and eagerly anticipated races of 2023, returning to the snow from 9th – 11th March 2023.

With so much to look forward, make Grand Hotel Savoia Cortina your home-away-from-home this winter....
