The voting is now open for the Interior Design Confederation Singapore's Interior Designer of The Year Award, publicly voted for as part of the Design Excellence Awards 2020. One of the carefully selected nominees is Anouska Hempel, the designer behind such projects as Blakes London, The Duxton Six Senses Singapore, Grosvenor House Suites on London's Park Lane, The Franklin London in Knightsbridge, and more recently, Hôtel Monsieur George in Paris (about which, more later).

The winner of the Interior Designer of The Year Award 2020 is voted for by a public poll from a shortlist of nominees. The voting poll is now live, with eight of the most highly celebrated hospitality designers in the world, and features Anouska Hempel's profile and projects.

Voting closes on Friday 21st August, and the winner will be announced at the Design Excellence Awards Gala Dinner being held on Friday 2nd October at the Shangri-la Hotel, Singapore.

Anouska Hempel has been a hotelier all her life, working at the forefront of hotel design and managing projects around the world - houses, hotels, landscapes, gardens, restaurants, commercial ventures; indeed anything she sets her eye on! Blakes, The Hempel, The Franklin, The Duxton and Grosvenor House Suites all carry her signature and now Monsieur George joins the ranks in Paris. Anouska's motto is: design, repeat, refine.
The Far East, the Middle East, Istanbul - wherever her imagination takes her, that's where the design inspiration for the next project will begin. "It doesn't matter where I am, I just use my head and follow my nose, giving whatever I think that project most needs," she explains. "I suppose I am at heart an intellectual Romantic. I don't want to be in the picture that I'm panting - I get the most enjoyment from painting pictures for others."

This new boutique hotel brings Anouska Hempel’s signature to Paris. Monsieur George, which opened in March 2020, is indisputably an interior design masterpiece, as secret as it is charming, situated on rue Washington under the glowing lights of the Champs-Élysées.
Anouska was given the task of creating Monsieur George as a timeless yet modern hotel, bar and restaurant, offering a “family home” atmosphere within the busy milieu of the city's 8th arrondissement.
