- Unlock the mysteries of BHUTAN with BLUE POPPY TOURS....

A hidden gem that few have ever been to, Bhutan is fast gaining popularity as a colourful, cultural and uncommercialised alternative to the traditional beaten track. Blue Poppy Tours, headed by Choki Dorji, have been organising circuits through The Land of The Thunder Dragon since 2006 and the team are experts in creating bespoke itineraries to this beautiful, peaceful nation.

A tour of Bhutan is best begun in the country’s capital, Thimphu, with its many museums and temples. Well worth a visit is Changangkha Temple, perched on the hilltop overlooking the town, where devotees flock throughout the day to turn the prayer wheels. The temple also contains beautiful wall paintings and hundreds of religious scriptures written in gold. Ensure you culminate your trip with a hike or horseback trek to the famous Tiger's Nest Monastery that clings to sheer cliffs over the Paro valley. One of the holiest sites in the country, this is surely the highlight of any trip to Bhutan!
Rest and rejuvenate after each busy day with a stay at the Amankora lodges along the way ("Aman" meaning "peace," and "kora" meaning "circuit"). Pictured below are our three favourite Amankora properties - Thimpu, Punakha and Paro:
